Kate Hudson is an actor of great talent, most well-known for her character Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which has earned her an Academy Award nomination. She was born into a family of movie stars and seemed to have a natural flair to be in the spotlight. Her mother, Goldie Hawn, is a well-known film actor while her father, Bill Hudson, is comedian. Since her early years she was passionate about performing and would take any opportunity to perform on stage. Parents made sure that she had dancing instruction, and she was also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a child. In 1996, she began acting when she was offered the role in the TV drama Party of Five. While she was admitted to New York University, Kate Hudson was more keen on pursuing a job as a showbiz entrepreneur than a degree. After a few minor roles in films, she was offered the role which would become the focus of her career. She was chosen to play Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. Despite its box office disappointment, the film received positive critiques from critics, and it made a name for Kate as an actress in the American film industry.
