He is currently an Combate Americas promotee. 2 Ortiz is best known for his time with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where as an ex- Light Heavyweight Champion and holding the title from April 14th 2001 until September 26 2003, he was the Light Heavyweight Champion. He was a pioneer of the sport as were Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Ortiz was the biggest pay-per view draw for 2006, due to his fights with Forrest Griffin and Ken Shamrock.
