Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and owner of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. In her 21st year, she was president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to do so. After graduation she made her mark as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice platform that offered critical observations about the current political climate. The celebrity she enjoyed helped her to convince several famous people to share their opinions on current events, as well as politics and culture. Arianna was famous when she decided in 2003 to become an Independent candidate for the California Recall election to succeed former Governor Davis. Alongside this she also led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as the most influential female in the media industry in the year 2009. Her ranking was in the 12th spot on Forbes' list. The Guardian also included her on the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named the president of this group. It included a variety of AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos, a Journalism and management expert. Though she shared a close friendship with her mother and father but it was their connection that shaped her. Even in her formative age she demonstrated the leadership abilities that she is still known for. When she was 16 she relocated into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years, where she was the third female to serve as president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was awarded. After after graduation she worked as a critic columnist and television host. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write the books she wrote with Bernard Levin's aid.
