Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and expansive imagination. Her songs were written before she could write or read. The first time she picked up a guitar was at age 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of eleven. That following year, Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. In high school She made her mark locally but dreamed about having a bigger stage. When she was graduating in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for women to sing for his television show that was syndicated about the same as the time. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed with RCA Records. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own hits like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner she wrote the song"I Will Never Love You and had it reach the top spot at No. 1 for the first time in 1974.
