Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress, director producer and vocalist. Beautiful, intelligent and skilled actress, she's a great inspiration to Asian actors who want to make it big in Hollywood. Her fame was boosted by numerous popular roles in the series. The most notable was The Ally McBeal series, where she played Ling Woo the villainous character. In the wake of her success, she landed major roles in Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). For Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave a stunning performance as Japanese crime boss O-Ren Ishii. Around the same time she was playing the lead role in a few box office failures such as Rise: Blood Hunter. Then she began voicing characters from animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia as well as other smaller-screen roles failed to bring her any success. Southland's highly praised police show, Southland and a recurring role helped Liu re-establish the status of an established actor. Liu chooses her roles with care to avoid becoming typecast in the highly competitive field. She is also a talented artist, who is not limited due to her ethnic background.
